A petition challenging the arrest of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s (TLP) chief Maulana Khadim Hussain Rizvi, his son Saad Rizvi and TLP patron-in-chief Pir Afzal Qadri will be taken up by Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Naqvi at the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday.

The habeas corpus petition was filed by TLP member Syed Zafar Hussain Gilani through Advocate Nabeel Javed Kahloon, in which he contended that his leaders’ detention was unlawful as the government had not provided any grounds or fired an FIR before taking them into custody.

The petitioner referred to Article 10 of the Constitution that states “no person who is arrested shall be detained in custody without being informed of the grounds for arrest or denied a legal advisor”.

The complainant demanded that the detention is declared void and the leaders released.
