Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has taken a suo motu notice of the Dubai properties of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan, Geo News reported on Wednesday.

The top judge, who is currently in London to raise funds for dams in Pakistan, has reportedly contacted the apex court officials and asked them to fix a date for the hearing of the case.

His attention to the matter of Aleema Khan’s offshore properties was drawn during a candid conversation with journalists earlier in the day, reports claim.

Earlier this month, Aleema had paid half the total cost of her previously undeclared Dubai property to tax authorities as penalty.

She paid 25 per cent of the total estimated amount of her luxurious flat –The Lofts East-1406 – in taxes and 25 per cent fine charges, officials had said. The premier’s sister was slapped with a double penalty because she did not disclose the said property worth around Rs74 million, they had added.

The said luxurious flat is located in the heart of Dubai, adjacent to Burj Khalifa, the most expensive area in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“The Lofts East-1460 was paid for from the funds generated from my business dealings overseas. Further, I have already disposed of my property and have informed the FBR about its purchase and sale,” Aleema had said in her affidavit submitted to a team of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
