Doctors advise NAB to keep Shehbaz Sharif in ‘open, clean spaces’

–Medical team at PIMS says NA Opp leader’s medical reports unsatisfactory

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif should be kept in open and clean spaces due to problems in his kidneys and chest, doctors recommended on Tuesday.

Shehbaz Sharif, who reached Lahore from Islamabad on Tuesday, is currently in the custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over corruption cases.

According to reports, Shehbaz’s health was evaluated by doctors at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) earlier in the day. The PML-N president had been taken to the federal capital last week on a transit remand for participation in the National Assembly session.

Officials from the anti-graft body accompanied him throughout the medical process.

“Few sub-centimeter mediastinal lymph nodes are seen. One of the more prominent right lower paratracheal lymph node measures 8.00mm in short axis,” Shehbaz’s medical report states.

“Both the kidneys show lobulated contours. There is a tiny hypodense area at lower pole of left kidney with internal fat attenuation… suggesting of benign etiology likely angiomyolipoma,” it added.

In light of the medical problems, the doctors recommended that the opposition leader in the NA should be kept in open and clean spaces.

Last week, Shehbaz’s blood report showed signs of cancer recurrence as his medical examination was conducted after he complained of throat ache.

According to reports, Shehbaz’s report indicated signs of Chromogranin A (CgA) and his adenoid cystic carcinoma node level was found to be at 688 — the normal level of which is considered to be at 100.

In light of the report, doctors had recommended that Shehbaz’s CT Scan be conducted immediately, the report claimed.

On Thursday, Shehbaz informed an accountability court in Lahore that he has blood cancer and is not being permitted a medical checkup by officials of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), terming it “blackmail”.

Shehbaz Sharif, who is also the former chief minister of Punjab, has been in NAB’s custody since October 5.

NAB is currently investigating the former Punjab chief minister in Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing scheme, Punjab Power Development Company (PPDC), Punjab Saaf Paani company and Ramzan Sugar Mills cases.
