Pakistan Navy arrests four drug smugglers in Gwadar

GWADAR: The Pakistan Navy (PN) on Monday arrested four drug peddlers and recovered huge quantity of narcotics worth millions of rupees during an operation.

A Pakistan Navy spokesperson said that on a tip-off regarding drugs smuggling, an operation was conducted near Ormara in Gwadar.

During operation, four drug smugglers were apprehended with 1,500 kilogram of narcotics worth millions of rupees in the international market.

The PN took the recovered drugs into custody and an investigation into the matter is underway.

A case was registered against them as well.

In September, the Pakistan Navy and Maritime Security Agency took three tonnes of hashish into possession from a boat in northern Arabian Ocean.

In a joint anti-narcotics operation by the two forces, drugs worth millions of dollars were seized.

The seized narcotics was later handed over to relevant authorities.

“These operations are necessary to maintain law and order,” the authorities said while highlighting that the forces will continue to play their role in curbing illegal activities.
