PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has established 22 model police stations in various parts of the province to provide easy justice and access to the high echelon of power, said a press release issued from Central Police Office (CPO) here on Monday.
The model police stations established in Peshawar included police station Gulbahar, P.S West Cantt, P.S East Cantt, P.S Yakatoot, in Swat Saidu Sharif, in Mardan Sheikh Maltoon, in Haripur Kot Najeeb Ullah and Police Station Haripur, in Bannu P.S Miryan, in Kohat P.S Ustarzai, In DI Khan P.S Bandkorai and P.S Darband, in Chitral P.S Bomboryat, in Upper Dir P.S Gandigar, in lower Dir P.S Timergarh, in Swabi P.S Topi, in Mansehra P.S City Mansehra, in Tank P.S gali amam, in Hangu P.S City Hangu, in Lakki Marwat P.S Lakki Marwat and in Karak P.S Takht-e-Nusrati.
Police station is an important organ of law enforcement and is the first step in the justice ladder as well as the first point of interaction of the police activities for public and police.
Keeping this fact in view, great responsibilities devolve on its staff to restore the much-needed confidence of the general public on this important unit and lay solid foundation form here for ensuring easy dispensation of justice to the complainants.
The basic purpose of establishment of model police station is to provide better environment to the general public at police station level where they can feel at home and present their confronting problems and complaints in a fear-free atmosphere.
Women desks have also been established in these model police stations for redressal of their confronting problems and grievances. Owing to it, the womenfolk are presenting their problems to the ladies police on duty without any hesitation.
Besides this, two ladies doctors are also performing duty on these desks to provide first aid to the injured persons of any incident. Due to public friendly atmosphere in these police stations, the gap between public and police has effectively bridged to a great extent.
