KDA starts anti-encroachment operation on railways land

KARACHI: Following the directives of the Supreme Court, the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) began the anti-encroachment operation to clear the Karachi Circular Railway on Monday.

As per details, KDA will clear all encroachments on the Railways land to clear the area surrounding the Karachi Circular Railway track.

Earlier, KDA kicked off the second phase of anti-encroachments operation to remove the illegal constructions inside the Empress Market and demolished all unplanned buildings in Kabari market and Jahangirabad.

Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar assured that the plan will be executed after a notice and sufficient time will be given to the shopkeepers to empty the shops. He informed that those persons and families affected by the operation will be provided with an alternative place and a committee has been formed for this purpose.

“We do not want to affect anyone’s business and we will not repeat the mistakes of the past,” he had said.

Mayor Waseem Akhtar asserted that the anti-encroachment operation will restore Karachi’s natural and historical beauty.
