Govt successfully managing pending external payments: Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was successfully managing the pending external payments, besides taking steps to boost the national economy.

Talking to a private news channel, he said that the foreign visits of Prime Minister Imran Khan were very successful which would help further strengthening the economy.

He said that all the institutions need to do strategic rethinking, including media, adding that the government was trying to streamline all the important institutions.

He said that nothing was constant in politics and with every passing day the government reconsiders its decisions according to the situation.

He said that the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme and public service reforms programmes were almost in the final stages. PTI government took many initiatives during the first 100 days and is moving forward in the positive direction, he added.

The minister said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were enjoying brotherly relations and hold great importance for each other.

Fawad said that all the agreements signed with China were in favour of Pakistan and in line with the manifesto of PTI.

He said that PM Khan was very sincere with the people of Pakistan and was utilising public money carefully, adding that there was a visible decrease in the expenses of the prime minister and governor houses.

Replying to a question regarding Azam Swati case, he said that the government would obey and implement the decision of the Supreme Court (SC) in the case.

He said that the opposition was criticising the government merely because of its policy that no corrupt would be spared in the country, adding that opposition was just hue and crying to escape from accountability.

To another question, he said that Jahangir Khan Tareen had declared all of his assets and was paying a huge amount of income tax.

He said that negotiations were underway regarding amending the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law but it would not be made toothless as per desire of the opposition.
