Captain has put country back on right track: CM

–Aleem Khan says even opponents will be compelled to praise new local bodies system

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Saturday said that “captain” [Prime Minister Imran Khan] has put the country back on the right track and the work done by his government within 90 days was exemplary.

“None of the previous governments had ever done what we [the PTI government] has done,” he said while addressing a gathering of people who called on him from different cities of the province.

The chief minister listened to the visitors’ problems and issued on-the-spot orders to address the complaints shared by them.

“The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is standing with the downtrodden, and people are our real power,” he said, adding that problems faced by the masses are his personal, which will be solved at the earliest.

The chief minister also said that concrete measures are being taken to improve the living standards of the common man. “The times of raising hollow slogans are gone.”

He said that the economy had been ruined by the wrong policies of previous governments and facts had been concealed with fabricated information but now is the time for public prosperity. “Public service is our only agenda,” he said.

CM Buzdar said that he will not allow anybody to impede the process of public service and a strict action will be taken against those who will not work to resolve the problems faced by the people.

“I personally monitor the progress on any public complaint,” he said, adding that PM Khan is fulfilling the dream of the creators of Pakistan.

“The neglected sections of the society will get their rights in new Pakistan and extensive work is continuing for the past three months to achieve this target.”

ALEEM KHAN:

Meanwhile, Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that the new system of local bodies in the province will empower the people, both financially and administratively.

Discussing it with a delegation from Sheikhupura, which called on him here, the minister said that instead of three, it will be a two-tier local government system that even political opponents will be compelled to praise.

“Final deliberations, in this regard, are underway.”

The incumbent government inherited the worst financial challenges from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government and there still is a lot of room for improvement, he said and added that the present leadership is moving forward with concrete planning.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan and his team are working with honesty and in the right direction. Due to the corruption of the [Nawaz] League in Punjab, the new government had to reduce its annual development programme.”

This delegation headed by provincial minister Mian Khalid Mahmood apprised Aleem Khan about the problems faced by the people of Sheikhupura and said they are waiting for the new local bodies system to deal with the menace of corruption at all levels.

Among the delegates were, Saeed Virk, Aslam Baloch, Gul Aghaz, Bilal Virk, Shahid Manzoor Gill, Chaudhry Ashfaq, Dr Saleem, Rao Jahanzaib Qawi, Abid Chathha and Sarfraz Dogar.

They thanked the senior minister for consulting them on the local bodies system and presented a number of proposals in this regard.
