Baloch separatist leader Harbiyar Marri, 12 others booked for Chinese consulate attack

Sindh’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday booked Baloch separatist leader Harbiyar Marri, who is in exile, commander Aslam Achoo and 12 others for terrorism and murder for their alleged involvement in the attack on Chinese consulate in Karachi.

As investigation make headway into the incident, the official claimed that the attack was “a failed and shameful attempt to harm the Pakistan-China relationship”.

“The attack, carried out with the assistance of Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), was an attempt to strike against the growing diplomatic and economic relations between China and Pakistan,” said police officials.

According to the first information report (FIR) registered by CTD police on behalf of the state through Boat Basin Station House Officer, the militants remained in constant contact with the persons implicated in the FIR.

The masterminds and facilitators listed in the FIR include Harbiyar Marri, Aslam Achoo, Bashir Zeb, Noor Bux Mengal, Karim Marri, Capt Rehman Gul, Nisar, Gaindi, Sheikhu, Sharif, Hamal, Munshi and Agha Sherdil.

On Friday, at least seven people, including three assailants, were killed when the Chinese consulate in Karachi’s Clifton area came under an attack early in the morning. The law enforcement agencies and the police officers deployed for the security of the building had managed to foil the attack.
