LAHORE: Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), after the successful implementation of its e-challan system’s first phase in the provincial capital, has advanced its ambit by including speed-limit and lane violations to the previously observed one-way and red-light violations.
Technically calibrated speed radar cameras have been mounted on all e-challan points across the metropolis. PSCA is vehemently educating the public through its Visual Messaging Screens (VMS) about the applicable speed limits on different roads of Lahore.
According to a press release issued by PSCA on Friday, for the traffic on Canal Road, the speed limits for LTV and HTV have maintained at 70 km and 50 km, respectively. Similarly, for The Mall, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road and Main Boulevard, the speed limits for both LTV and HTV have been maintained at 60 km and 40 km, respectively.
All four violations added to the e-challan matrix are main contributors to deaths and injuries on roads, said a PSCA spokesperson, adding that the e-challan initiative has streamlined traffic management and road safety in Lahore.
Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) has also directed to improve traffic scenario in the metropolis in accordance with the instructions of the Lahore High Court (LHC).
We urge citizens to abide by traffic laws and avoid getting ticketed, the spokesperson said and reiterated that those ticketed must pay their fines on time to avoid nuisance and action.
All Bank of Punjab branches are authorised to receive e-challan payments across the province and the status of e-challans can be checked at echallan.psca.gop.pk.
