ISLAMABAD: An accountability court (AC) of Islamabad on Friday accepted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s plea seeking exemption from appearance in the Flagship reference case.

As per the details, AC Judge Muhammad Arshad took up the case for hearing, during which the former premier did not appear.

During the course of proceedings, Nawaz’s counsel filed the plea seeking exemption from appearance on behalf of the ex-PM.

The petition said that a prayer ceremony had been organised to offer Fateha for former first lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz and so the exemption plea should be approved.

The AC judge then accepted the plea.
