After an intimate wedding at Italy’s Lake Como, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s wedding festivities in India kicked off with a reception in Bengaluru which is the Deepika’s hometown.
The reception which took place Wednesday at the Leela Palace Hotel saw the bride and groom’s family and cousins in attendance as well as other prominent personalities including badminton player PV Sindu. Most of the guests were from Deepika’s side.
The couple, styled by Sabyasachi, was looking absolutely regal. Deepika donned a gold Kanjivaram zari sari with Sabyasachi emerald jewellery, completing her look with a sleek bun and minimal makeup. Ranveer, on the other hand, wore a black and gold Rohit Bal sherwani.
The couple greeted the media before the reception and posed for pictures and videos. They also invited the media for a meal. In one of the videos, Ranveer is heard saying, “Khaana kha kar jaye ga (Eat food before going).”

An Indian publication quoted Deepika’s nutritionist Pooja Makhija as saying that the “reception was a close-knit affair which was full of love and warmth. It was a very simple yet elegant affair where the celebrity couple greeted all the guests with folded hands and was on the stage for good three hours.”
She continued, “Arrangements were par excellence; I love the multi-cuisine delicacies which were served in a big plate. This reception was away from glamour and glitz. This gathering was only full of love which saw Padukone’s relatives and very close friends in attendance.”
As per reports, the menu featured cuisines from across the world, including Chinese, Vietnamese, Italian, South Indian and Thai along with a chaat counter. The guests were welcomed with coconut water and shikanji.
She shared that this was apparently also the first time Ranveer was meeting most of Deepika’s family members.
Deepika and Ranveer began their relationship in 2013 after they met on the sets of their film, Goliyon Ki Raasleela: RamLeela. They tied the knot last week according to Konkani customs on November 14 and as per Sindhi traditions on November 15 in an intimate affair in Italy. As per reports, the couple will be hosting two wedding reception in Mumbai for their industry friends.
