ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday summoned the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage (IB&NH) secretary in a case pertaining to the ban on media coverage of activities of Falah-e-Insaniyat (FIF) – a charity organisation established by Jamatud Dawa (JuD).
Justice Aamer Farooq of IHC resumed hearing a petition filed by the organisation against the ban by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).
Deputy Attorney General Khalid Mehmood appeared on behalf of the federation while Advocate Rizwan Abbasi represented the petitioner.
During the course of proceedings, the bench expressed displeasure over the absence of deputy secretary of the Information Ministry and remarked that the court didn’t unnecessarily summon the officers.
The judge questioned as to why the ministry’s representatives were not appearing before the bench despite repeated summons and if the orders were being taken lightly.
The bench then summoned Ministry of IB&HN secretary.
