Recover missing person or remove secretaries, IHC tells PM

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday directed Prime Minister Imran Khan to either recover Abdullah, a missing person, or remove defence secretary, interior secretary and Islamabad inspector general of police (IGP).

The IHC gave 6-month time for recovery of Abdullah before wrapping up the case. The court ordered PM Khan to remove his secretaries, IGP and other officers from their posts if they fail to recover Abdullah within the stipulated period.

A petition regarding the disappearance of Abdullah from the jurisdiction of Islamabad’s sector I-9 police station came up for hearing before Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani.

Mother of the allegedly kidnapped person had resorted to the high court for recovery of her son.

Justice Kiani, while announcing the judgement, imposed a fine of Rs 2 million on the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) constituted for the case comprising secretary and interior secretaries and Islamabad IG.

It is pertinent to mention here that the terrorism cases are registered in Islamabad against the alleged kidnapped person.

Online sources said the abducted person is also wanted by the police in several cases.

The incident of Abdullah’s abduction was reported in 2015 from sector I-9 and the Islamabad police formed a JIT for his recovery. Later, the affected family approached the IHC.

Abdullah has remained in Adiala jail on the charges of terrorism, reports claimed.
