ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday approved promotions of 20 senior bureaucrats from grade-21 to grade 22, including Principal Information Officer (PIO) Shafqat Jalil.
Shafqat Jalil of the Information Group, who holds the additional charge of information secretary, will now serve as a grade-22 officer. He is also the Radio Pakistan director general.
According to details, a high-powered board presided over by PM Imran approved promotions of six officers from the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) group, two from police, one from information and 11 from foreign service and other groups.
Those who were promoted to grade-22 from DMG, also known as Pakistan Administrative Services (PAS), included Imran Ahmed, Shafqatur Rehman Ranjha, Amir Ahmed, Muhammad Khan, Sajid Yousafi and Tariq Najeeb. From the police group, Naeem Khan and Hussain Asghar were promoted to the next grade.
The notification stated that upon promotion to grade-22, Foreign Affairs Additional Secretary Syed Hasan Raza has been given the charge of special secretary ME/OIC/legal.
Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) issued the promotion notification of Inland Revenue Service and Pakistan Customs Service.
Main Saeed Iqbal and Hafiz Muhammad Ali of IRS and Muhammad Javed Ghani and Fazal Yazdani khan of the Pakistan Customs Service have been promoted to grade-22.
It is pertinent to mention here that this was the first session of the high-powered board in which the Prime minister Imran Khan chaired the meeting and evaluated the officers’ cases.
Last month, addressing participants of 109th National Management Course from National School of Public Policy, Prime Minister Imran had said that the government’s policy of de-politicisation of institutions, meritocracy and transparency offered a great opportunity to the bureaucracy to improve its performance and play its due role in translating political vision into reality.
PM Khan added that being the backbone of the state, bureaucracy has a huge responsibility to deliver and come up to the expectations of the nation.
