Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday took notice of the deaths of two minor children, caused by eating allegedly contaminated food at a restaurant in Karachi.
CJP Nisar also sought a report from the Sindh government over the issue within 10 days.
Advocate Azhar Siddique had filed a petition, asking the top judge to take notice of the incident. In his petition, he had said that the Sindh government had failed to protect the lives of the citizens and the two children died because of the restaurant’s non-compliance with Sindh Food Ordinance 2016.
SHC TO HEAR PETITION AGAINST FOOD AUTHORITY:
The Sindh High Court (SHC) decided to hear on Tuesday a petition filed by the owner of an eatery against the Sindh Food Authority pertaining to the death of two minors.
The petitioner said that the food authority had started a media campaign against them and it was misguiding the media and public. He said that the food authority had not sealed their restaurant but they voluntary closed down their restaurant when the food authority officials came there. He asked the court to stop Sindh Food Authority from ‘campaigning’ against them on media.
