To improve its performance, the Pakistan Railways has decided to hire eight thousand six hundred workers in different cadres.
A senior official of the railways ministry said on Sunday that Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved the summary for the hiring of these workers and their recruitment process will be initiated shortly.
He said that around 11,000 skilled workers are needed on an emergency basis to improve the performance of Pakistan Railways. The ministry has already hired around two thousand workers, he added.
The official further stated that people seeking jobs in their native districts would be given preference over residents of other areas and all the appointments would be made purely on merit.
He said that a summary to regularise the services of workers employed on a contractual basis, under the Prime Minister’s Package, will also be shortly sent for approval.
