Maulana Samiul Haq’s family refuses to allow body’s exhumation

The family of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq has refused to allow exhumation of the noted religious leader’s body after police approached a court on Saturday seeking permission for conducting the body’s post-mortem to complete legal requirements, according to a report.

Talking to a private news channel, Haq’s son Hamidul Haq said that they are yet to receive a court notice in this regard but vowed not to allow the exhumation of the body of his late father, who was brutally stabbed to death in his bedroom on Nov 4.

“The police has been unable to trace even one case involving assassinations of political leaders so what good can be expected of them now?” he asked.

On the other hand, a special investigation team formed to probe the murder has requested Haq’s family to allow them to complete the legal requirements.

According to details, domestic helps of Haq have told police that two people came to meet the JUI-S chief at his residence prior to his murder.

“When two acquaintances had arrived to meet him, Maulana asked us to leave for they wanted to talk to him in private. When we returned home we found Maulana Sami’s body in a pool of blood,” they said.
