FAISALABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Faisalabad wing on Saturday arrested a man involved in telephone baking fraud from Jhang.
Talking to media, Assistant Director Cyber Crime Wing Shoaib Haroon said that the agency conducted a probe after a complaint from Muhammad Sadeeq, an Abbottabad resident, that Rs105,000 had been drawn from his bank account.
“During the investigation, we traced suspect Asif, who used to call people pretending to be a bank officer and gather their accounts details,” the officer said, adding the suspect used a fake ID to trap people and transferred money in his own account after getting details of people’s account over the phone.
After the probe, FIA’s cyber crime wing arrested Asif arrested in Jhang.
Further investigations are under way, the assistant director cyber crime wing added.
