GUYANA: New Zealand on Friday ended Pakistan’s journey in the ICC Women’s World T20 by handing them over a 54-runs defeat in a crucial match.

While batting first, Kiwi team put up a sum of 144 runs on the scorecard for the loss of 6 wickets. Sophie Devine and Suzie Bates scored 32 and 35 runs each to help New Zealand achieve a defendable total.

Former skipper Sana Mir and medium-pacer Aliya Riaz picked up two wickets each.

While the skipper Javeria Khan got Pakistan off to a swift start, remaining team could not maintain the momentum. Chasing 145, green team got all out on 90 in 18 overs. The only significant performance was displayed by Javeria who scored a smashing 36 runs on just 23 balls.

Amelia Kerr and Jess Watkin picked three wickets each to send green shirts packing.

Pakistan earlier lost to India and Australia while its only victory came against Ireland last Wednesday.

In another game, India qualified for the semi-finals first time since 2010 as its skipper Mithali Raj scored her second half-century to end the Irish team’s journey.

India now faces Australia on Saturday to decide who finishes as top Group B team before playing the knock-out round on November 22.
