LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday adjourned the hearing of a petition seeking Prime Minister Imran Khan’s disqualification, directing the petitioner’s counsel to add further arguments for the petition to be maintainable.
Justice Shams Mehmood will hear the petition filed by Advocate AK Dogar.
The petitioner stated that PM Khan took measures against the country’s sovereignty and incited the people to civil disobedience movement during the tenure of former PM Nawaz Sharif.
The petitioner claimed that PM Khan also incited general public for not paying taxes besides stopping them to send foreign remittances while he attacked the building of the parliament along with his supporters and broke its gate.
The petitioner prayed that it should disqualify the PM under Article 62 1/G and issue orders for launching proceedings against him under Article 124 A.
“Imran had urged people to neither pay taxes nor send foreign remittances,” the petition argued.
“Imran along with his supporters stormed towards the Parliament House and smashed its gates,” it added.
After hearing the arguments, Justice Mehmood directed the petitioner’s counsel to add further arguments over the matter.
The LHC then adjourned the hearing for one week.
