ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to attend the 9th Sir Bani Yas Forum.

The forum, organised by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be attended by foreign ministers of various countries.

The Sir Bani Yas Forum brings together senior decision makers from across the Middle East and around the world to discuss some of the most crucial issues facing the region.

The forum addresses issues related to peace and security in the Middle East and the Gulf.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal late on Thursday tweeted that the FM had departed for the forum being held in Abu Dhabi.

Earlier, a high-level UAE delegation comprising senior officials of major companies, including Mobadla Petroleum, ADIA (Sovereign Wealth Funds), Etisalat, DP World, Dubai Investment Authority, Emaar Company, Aldahra Agriculture and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, had met the foreign minister in October in Islamabad.

The visit was a follow up of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s official visit to Abu Dhabi on September 19 and his understanding with Crown Prince Sheikh Muhammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to forge closer economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries in all areas of common interest.
