Prime Minister Imran Khan has donated to the national exchequer an extremely expensive wristwatch gifted by the Saudi crown prince, a private media outlet reported Wednesday.
According to reports, the branded – Swiss luxury Chopard– watch worth Rs16.5 million was presented to the prime minister by Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman during the former’s visit to Saudi Arabia last month.
The premier could have kept the wristwatch to himself by paying 10 per cent (1.65 million), however, reports said, the premier decided otherwise and submitted it to the treasury.
It merits a mention here that PM Khan, in October, had reached Saudi Arabia looking for financial assistance from the Saudi leadership to ease the financial crisis Pakistan is facing.
Saudi Arabia had agreed to give Pakistan $3 billion in foreign currency support for a year and a further loan worth up to $3 billion in deferred payments for oil imports to help stave off a current account crisis.
The prime minister had also met King Salman and the crown prince in person.
