National Security Workshop participants visit Navy Dockyard in Karachi

KARACHI: Participants of the 20th National Security Workshop (NSW) of National Defence University (NDU) comprising of eminent politicians, parliamentarians, bureaucrats, ambassadors, senior armed forces officers as well as representatives from the media and business community visited the Pakistan Navy Dockyard on Thursday.

The NDU delegation was led by Institute for Strategic Studies, Research and Analysis (ISRAA) Director General (DG) Major General Muhammad Samrez Salik. Commander Coast Rear Admiral Moazzam Ilyas and Commander Logistics Rear Admiral Imran Ahmad were also present on the occasion and interacted with the visiting delegates.

Upon arrival, workshop participants were given a briefing about the capabilities, roles and functions of the Pakistan Navy Fleet as well as the coastal command setup and logistics infrastructure of Pakistan Navy.

the participants also visited the Naval Headquarters where they were given a briefing on Maritime security challenges and responses, including the Pak Navy’s contributions in safeguarding the maritime interests of Pakistan.

Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi interacted with the participants after a presentation which was followed by an overarching discussion on important issues.

 

 

The visit provided an opportunity to NSW participants for enhancing their understanding about the prevailing geo-strategic environment in the North of Arabian Sea, maritime challenges being faced by the country and the role of Pakistan Navy in these issues.

Participants were also given a guided tour of Pak Navy submarine Hurmat and PNS Zulfiqar towards the end of the visit.
