Faisalabad woman reportedly gang-raped

FAISALABAD: A woman was allegedly gang-raped Wednesday in Faisalabad’s Jhang Bazaar area.

According to a report in the local media, the victim, recalling the events of the incident told the police that Amir Sajjad was an old friend of her husband and they had good relations with him. She shared that Amir visited their home a few days ago and told her that he could help them get a house in Naya Pakistan Scheme and for the purpose she had to accompany him to submit the form in the bank.

The victim shared that she believed Sajjad and agreed to go with him in the vehicle. However, the accused took her to a house in Jhang Bazaar where two of his accomplices, Muhammad Naeem and an unidentified man, were waiting for them.

The victim revealed that the culprits locked her in a room and allegedly gang-raped her, after which they dumped her at Legal Road in an unconscious condition and fled the scene.

The police registered a case against the accused under section 376 and raids were conducted to arrest him. Further investigations are also under way.

Cases of sexual abuse have been on the rise in Punjab over the past few months. Most cases have been reported from Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Gujranwala and other parts of the province. The victims mostly include women and minor girls or boys.
