–Punjab info minister says airing private meeting video is criminal
–Claims ‘corruption’ and ‘Zardari’ are synonymous in dictionary
LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, Wednesday, challenged the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Mushahidullah Khan to a debate.
In a news conference, he said Mushahidullah’s job was to make sure people fight all day, adding that Mushahidullah had started his politics from a small house and had reached this point through “flattery of the Sharif family”.
“He [Mushahidullah] should debate me on any forum and I will reveal his truth,” Chohan added.
‘AIRING PRIVATE VIDEO IS CRIMINAL OFFENCE’:
Chohan said airing the video of a meeting between Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaders Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Tariq Cheema and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Jahangir Tareen was a crime.
“Airing of any video on a TV channel made with a private camera is a criminal act according to PEMRA rules.”
When asked by reporters if the video had come out of Elahi’s office, the information minister said this was not correct.
The minister informed reporters that Jahangir Tareen would attend meetings as a worker of the PTI.
‘ZARDARI MEANS CORRUPTION IN DICTIONARY’:
Chohan alleged that former president Asif Ali Zardari was involved in corruption, stealing and land grabbing.
“In the Oxford dictionary, corruption means Zardari and Zardari means corruption,” he said, adding that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) should explain to their leader that “money cannot be taken out of the country through Ayyan any longer” and that the party has suffered in standing by Zardari.
Chohan praised the work being done by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar, stating that for the first time 5,000 fake accounts had been uncovered. Chohan alleged that the former leader of the country was corrupt and had assets abroad.
“Annually approximately Rs1,000 billion is laundered from Pakistan. An Iqama would be presented anytime money laundering was mentioned. Iqama was a means for money laundering and stealing.”
‘ASSETS CAN BE ACCUMULATED BY LEGAL MEANS’:
Chohan added Aleema Khan, the prime minister’s sister, had never held any government or official post and a probe against her was not being stopped. The minister added that assets could be accumulated abroad through legitimate means.
Earlier this month, Aleema Khan submitted a reply in the Federal Investigation Agency pertaining to ownership of properties abroad.
