A woman and her minor daughter have been found hanging from a tree in a remote area of the Khanewal district, a private media outlet reported Wednesday.
According to reports, bodies of both the woman and her child were discovered near the former’s maternal home.
Police have said that the 30-year-old woman and her 4-year-old daughter were strangled to death before their bodies were hung from the tree.
Homicide Sub Inspector Falak Sheer, while speaking to the media outlet, said that marks of fingers around necks of both the victims indicated that it was a murder and that the killer or killers hanged the bodies to portray the crime as a murder-and-suicide case.
“The bodies have been moved to the tehsil headquarter hospital for autopsy and a case will be filed after the post-mortem examination.”
Police further said that the husband of the victim has been arrested and has confessed to killing both his wife and daughter.
“The woman was in a dispute with her estranged husband and his family. She, along with her daughter, was living at her parents’ house,” police said, adding that parents of the woman, a while ago, had reported that she had committed suicide by jumping in a canal.
However, the woman had been recovered from her friend’s house in Vehari.
