ISLAMABAD: An accountability court (AC) on Wednesday granted the judicial remand of three accused allegedly involved in a corruption scam pertaining to illegal awarding of shuttle service contract for the Diplomatic Enclave.
However, the court granted a seven days physical remand of a fourth accused Munir Jelani who was recently arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir conducted hearing on corruption reference against former member planning of Capital Development Authority (CDA), Nusratullah, former CDA Planning Wing director general Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu and M/S DSTS (Contractor) Managing Director Muhammad Hussain Gill.
After the completion of the five-day physical remand of the three accused, they were produced before the court by the anti-graft body.
NAB officials requested the court to grant further fourteen-day physical remand of the accused for further progress in the investigation process.
However, the court rejected NAB’s request and sent the accused to the jail on judicial remand.
It may be mentioned here that the above officers of the civic body were accused of granting a contract of shuttle service in Diplomatic Enclave to a favourite firm. The accused also allegedly awarded 36 kanals of land illegally to the same firm against lower prices which caused huge loss to the national exchequer.
