LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Saad Rafique on Tuesday filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against National Accountability Bureau (NAB) DG Lahore Shehzad Saleem.
In his petition, the PML-N leader stated that “Shehzad Saleem has become a party against PML-N and his recent media interviews prove that. When he is no longer an independent person then how can the inquiries be transparent?”
“The Lahore NAB DG is conducting a media trial of PML-N members and sharing confidential information pertaining to inquiries on TV channels,” the petition added.
Further, the PML-N leader requested the court to direct the NAB DG Lahore to not appear on talk shows.
“All inquiries of PML-N leaders under NAB DG Lahore should be transferred,” he urged.
NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Monday restricted officials from giving interviews to news channels after opposition parties protested against the “media trial” being conducted against political leaders by Saleem.
According to a press release issued by NBA, only the NAB chairman or the bureau’s spokesperson will share details [on case concerned] with the media and public.
Last week, Saleem had claimed in five consecutive TV interviews that NAB would file a reference against Shehbaz Sharif by the end of November.
He further claimed that official cheques were deposited in personal bank account by Shehbaz’s son-in-law Ali Imran.
