ANP’s leader among three killed in Peshawar fire exchange

PESHAWAR: Three including a local government representative belonging to the Awami National Party (ANP) and his brother were killed in a rival’s exchange of fire in the provincial capital here on Monday, police said.

The verbal brawl between former Naib Nazim ANP Sher Ali and his neighbour in Nauthia area of Peshawar Cantonment led to brutal firing in a wedding party. Ali, his brother and friend were killed due to the exchange of firing.

Sher Ali’s wedding was fixed for November 25.

The bodies were moved to a nearby hospital for autopsy, while raids for the arrest of the assailants were underway, police said. The victims refused to register the case against the killing due to which the FIR was filed in the presence of the police.

A passerby was also injured in the firing and was shifted to a hospital. The bodies have been sent to Lady Reading Hospital for the autopsy. Police have initiated a probe into the matter.

In another incident, a couple was shot dead by some unknown persons at their home in Mardan district of the KP. The dead bodies of husband and wife shifted to hospital for postmortem. The police have started an investigation into both cases.
