Pakistan’s rural areas remain much poorer than urban areas, according to a new World Bank report, a local media outlet reported on Saturday.

The report shows that approximately 80 per cent of people living below the poverty line reside in rural areas.

While Balochistan has the highest urban poverty rate at 62 per cent, the gap between rural and urban poverty is the highest in Sindh.

The rural-urban poverty gap in Punjab stands at 13 percentage points and 15 percentage points for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
