17 SMBBMU specialists to establish medical camps in Thar

LARKANA: Two medical teams, consisting of 17 senior specialist doctors of Larkana’s Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU), will leave for Tharparkar on Monday to provide free services at the medical camps.

The teams will be led by SMBBMU Vice-Chancellor Dr Aneela Atta-Ur-Rahman in which they will organise free medical camps at various drought-hit remote areas of the poverty-stricken district of Tharparkar, examine poor patients and give them free medicines.

The teams will consist of child specialists, gynaecologists, ultrasound specialists and two doctors of Community Medicine.

The senior lady doctors include Dr Rafia Baloch, Dr Shahida Magsi, Dr Shazia Jatoi, Dr Lashmi, Dr Marvi, Dr Kanwal and Dr Rabail Soomro, whereas child specialists include Dr Saifullah Jamro, Dr Abdul Hamid Shaikh, Dr Arbab Junejo, Dr Shanti Lal and Dr Muhammad Anwar Shaikh.

Dr Saeed Shaikh and Dr Adnan Wahab Qureshi will participate as public health specialists whereas Dr Farheen Soomro and Dr Sangeeta will be there as ultrasound specialists.

Dr Aneela while talking to the media said that these teams will establish medical camps in far-flung areas of Tharparkar for two days and will raise awareness among the poor women about the importance of mother & child healthcare.

She said all the patients will be fully examined and they will be provided required medicines free of cost.
