–Siemens Healthineers collaborated with several medical institutions, hospitals, clinics and NGOs across the country to raise awareness.

With October recognized as the breast cancer awareness month globally, Siemens Healthineers in Pakistan collaborated with several medical institutions, hospitals, clinics and NGOs across the country to raise awareness of the disease through a series of workshops. The workshops, open to the public, were conducted by well-known doctors at different locations with the aim to raise awareness of how yearly mammograms and early diagnosis can save lives.

Addressing one of the workshops Mr Khurram Jameel MD & CEO Siemens Healthineers Pakistan said: These workshops demonstrate our commitment to society and our resolve to help the women of Pakistan fight this deadly disease through early detection and timely treatment.”

Breast Cancer is rampant in Pakistan ‘It is estimated that each year more than 83,000 cases of breast cancer are reported in Pakistan. Over 40,000 die of breast cancer every year in Pakistan’, reported Pakistani media.

The first workshop was conducted in IQRA University where Dr Sadaf Nasir a senior radiologist gave a brief overview about the facts and figures; risk and causes regarding Breast cancer. Another workshop took place at the AMAN Foundation, a technical institution for medical care, where Dr Raima Kaleemi a senior radiologist from Jinnah Hospital described the symptoms, causes and treatment of the disease.

“Your body and it’s health needs your attention, better to be aware than to regret, have regular checkups for early detection so that you can live a carefree life,” said Dr RaimaKaleemi

Further sessions were held at the Rangers & Hamdard Hospital where Clinical sessions for doctors were also conducted at the Altamash Hospital, Civil Hospital and advanced Radiology Clinic where doctors from the radiology department were further informed of the latest equipment and practices available in the field.

Doctors who participated in these workshops advised participants to undergo regular checkups and look for warning signs of early detection and timely treatment.

A workshop was also held at a leading Karachi private club, the Karachi Gymkhana, where during a workshop for special children we arranged an info session for their teachers on breast cancer awareness the teachers showed keen interest and asked many questions about this important topic.
