Pakistani pilgrims stranded in Iraq receive tickets to return home

Pakistani pilgrims stranded at the Baghdad airport for the past four days, have finally received tickets to return back home, a private media outlet reported Friday.

Over a hundred Pakistani pilgrims stranded in Iraq had appealed to the government for assistance on Thursday.

According to reports, on Friday, the Pakistani Embassy in Iraq arranged the tickets for the pilgrims’ return.

The pilgrims will leave Baghdad at 11 am on Saturday and reach Karachi via Dubai.

Appealing to the government for assistance, the pilgrims had said they did not have money for food or to buy return tickets.

“We are facing difficulties as Shah Khurasan travel agent did not hand us our tickets and passports on time,” the pilgrims had said. “The elderly and children are being forced to sleep on floors in the cold and several have fallen sick,” they had lamented.
