NICVD facing shortage of life-saving drugs: report

KARACHI: Supply of medicines to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) remains suspended for the past three days, causing problems for the visiting and emergency patients, reports said on Thursday.

The contractor has stopped the supply of life-saving drugs to NICVD due to some technical reasons. Some 200 drugs are not available at emergency and OPDs for patients since last three days.

The emergency and OPDs are facing grave hardships due to unavailability of life-saving drugs. The Chest Pain Units (CPUs) and Satellite Centres are also facing the same situation for the last two days.

NICVD spokesperson, however, rejected the news being circulated in some section of media that about the shortage of life-saving drugs.

He said that there is no shortage of drugs in the hospital and the provision of life-saving drugs to OPD and emergency patients is being observed.
