KP’s industrialisation, exploitation of natural advantages are govt’s focus: KP CM

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan has said that the province’s industrialisation and exploitation of natural advantages along with widening fiscal space, quality education, widening fiscal space, efficient health care, and green growth initiatives are the government’s focus areas for prosperity in the province.

Presiding over a meeting of the provincial cabinet here at the Cabinet Room of the Civil Secretariat. The chief secretary, provincial ministers, advisors to the CM, special assistants, and administrative secretaries attended the meeting.

The cabinet debated on the agenda items and made a number of decisions accordingly.

“We have to go with a focused approach in certain areas to harness the natural advantages. Different pockets of this province have unique advantages and characteristics that require attention regarding development work,” the CM said while adding, “tourism will dominate the industrial sector since it has a vast and varied potential to attract tourists at large scale”.

He said that industrialisation and the development of the local economy in different pockets to integrate them into provincial and subsequently national development would certainly lead to the creation of jobs which will improve the revenue base of the province, ensuring a strong and stable provincial economy.

The chief minister said infrastructure development, integration in green growth initiatives and development of natural resources are some of the challenges of mainstreaming of erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and that his government is fully aware of these challenges.

“The provincial government would give them proper share in the green growth initiatives and ask the Environment Department to plan another billion tree tsunami for the next five years in order to reduce the negative impact of the environmental degradation,” said the CM while directing the concerned authorities to ensure a transparent mechanism fulfilling all formalities strictly while following the laws in order to launch this mega project for the second time in the province with successful roadmap.

Mahmood Khan said that KP is the most suitable destination for investment and his government has already directed to remove obstacles in facilitating investments in this regard.

He directed the provincial cabinet to come with recommendations for new openings in the industrial, commercial and economic growth initiatives in the next meeting.
