KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department on Thursday announced that all schools across the province shall remain open on November 9 and there will be no holiday on the occasion of Iqbal day.
Earlier, a spokesperson for the Interior Ministry had also said that there will be no holiday on November 9.
“No notification has been issued by the interior ministry regarding this,” the spokesperson had said, debunking all rumours which had been circulating on social media.
November 9 is celebrated as Iqbal Day, a tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal who was born in Sialkot on this date in 1877.
Allama Iqbal played a prominent role in established a separate homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent, modern-day Pakistan. His writings and poetry have influenced a great number of scholars and politicians as well as other notable personalities throughout the sub-continent.
