Court orders release of accused after plea-bargain deal with NAB

LAHORE: An accountability court on Thursday ordered the release of an accused involved in Munafa Network Marketing (MNM) scam while giving a final approval to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for entering into a plea bargain worth Rs 1.682 million with him.

Accountability Court Judge Syed Najamul Hassan passed the orders while accepting an application filed by the NAB authorities for final approval of plea bargain with accused, Sohail.

Earlier, the court was apprised that the NAB chairman had approved the request of accused Sohail for a plea bargain. The accused had agreed to deposit Rs 1.682 million for his release,  a NAB prosecutor told the court.

It is pertinent to mention here that NAB had arrested 43 persons so far in connection with the Rs 11 billion scam. The accused cheated public at large by luring them into getting motorbikes for investing only Rs 25,000.
