ISLAMABAD: The food department of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) during the ongoing campaign against substandard food suppliers on Wednesday sealed two food factories and arrested five workers preparing poor quality food items.

According to ICT Spokesman Assistant Commissioner Potohar Mahreen Baloch, the department conducted a surprise visit to PS Shams Colony area and sealed two units functioning illegally without official permits.

The sealing of the second food manufacturing unit located in H-13 sector was owing to poor compliance to health and safety protocols, unvaccinated workers, low wages, expired fire extinguishers and poor-quality raw material.

Meanwhile, inspection teams have also raided a dairy farm situated in the same sector for supplying poor quality milk.

First information reports (FI) have been lodged against the owners while arrested persons including Abdul Jabbar, Ali Raza and three others were shifted to PS Shams Colony Police Station.
