ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday sought reply regarding the removal of the name of the former Pakistan International Airline (PIA) CEO Musharraf Rasool Cyan from the Exit Control List (ECL) in the next hiring.
On the apex court’s directions, the court management issued separate notices to Civil Aviation Authority secretary, FIA director general, and NAB officials.
A two-member bench, headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, conducted the hearing. Justice Saeed, during the hearing, inquired the measures taken by the PIA, remarking that the judges were not there to brief about it.
The top court judge remarked judges don’t have the authority to run the PIA affairs. He further said that the Civil Aviation Authority and PIA know themselves what measures are needed to improve its performance. Justice Saeed remarked audit report is the postmortem of the PIA performance.
The report will diagnose the real disease of the PIA, he remarked. “What is the need for new hiring when PIA is already over staff? If the government wants new hiring it should prepare a list first,” he said.
The case hearing has been adjourned till November 16.
