PAL to organise Allama Iqbal National Seminar on November 9

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL), National History and Literary Heritage Division will hold a one-day seminar to mark the birth anniversary of poet and philosopher Dr Allama Iqbal here on November 9.

The event is being arranged in collaboration with the Ilm-o-Adab organisation. National History and Literary Heritage Division Secretary Amir Hasan will be the chief guest on the occasion whereas, the event would also be attended by prominent scholar Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik.

The opening session of the seminar will be chaired PAL Chairman Syed Junaid Akhlaq while Dr Zafar Hussain Zafar will conduct the opening session of the seminar and National History and Literary Heritage Parliamentary Secretary Ghazala Saifi will address the concluding session.

Eminent scholars, poets and people from different walks of life will pay tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal for his remarkable services to mobilise the people of sub-continent through his poetry.

The second session of the seminar will be presided over by Dr Rafi-ud-Din Hashmi, the panellists include Akhtar Usman, Dr Arshad Mahmood Nashad, Dr Naheed Qamar, Dr Safdar Rashid, Dr Abdul Karim and Dr Fakharul Islam. This session would be moderated by Baqir Waseem.

The third session of the seminar will be presided over by Riphah University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Anis Ahmad. Speakers of this session include Dr Iqbal Afaqi, Muhammad Iftikhar Khokar, Fareda Hafeez, and Qasim Yaqoob.

A documentary film called ‘Bachon Ka Iqbal’ will also be screened during the seminar.
