Disgruntled Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan may rejoin the party soon as he is currently in contact with senior party leaders, a local news outlet reported on Wednesday.

Reportedly, Nisar will soon return to PML-N and will take the oath of Punjab Assembly membership after a settlement.

Nisar’s relationship with the party deteriorated after he developed difference with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif. Reportedly, Nisar had also refused to accept Nawaz’s daughter Maryam Nawaz as the party’s leader.

The former interior minister had also advised the PML-N supremo to avoid clashing with the state institutions, saying that it would harm the country.

On Tuesday, Nisar stated that he is still a part of the party despite his reservations that he has had in the past.

He made these statements while talking for the first time following his defeat in the general elections of July 25 general elections.

He said that “situation would have been different” if former premier Nawaz Sharif had paid heed to his advice.

It merits a mention here that Nisar contested July 25 polls as an independent candidate on four seats – NA-59 (Rawalpindi), NA 63 (Taxila) and Punjab Assembly’s PP-10 and PP-12 on ‘jeep’ symbol.

Nisar, however, could only manage to win the PP-10 Chakri seat.

During a number of election rallies, Nisar had openly expressed his differences with the PML-N’s central leadership and had expressed anger over the fact that he was asked to apply for the party ticket.
