Army captain martyred in IED blast

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army Captain Zarghaam Fareed was martyred while defusing an improvised explosive device (IED) in Mohmand Agency on Wednesday.

This news was shared by the official Twitter handle of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Asif Ghafoor.

According to the ISPR DG, 25-year-old Capt Zarghaam was unmarried and belonged to Sargodha.

The ISPR DG tweeted, “Another son of soil laid his life while performing duty. Capt Zarghaam Fareed embraced martyrdom while neutralising an IED detected at Mohmad Gat in Mohmand Distt. Sepoy Rehan of Bomb Disposal team got critically injured. 25 years old Capt Zarghaam was unmarried and belonged to Sargodha.”

Sepoy Rehan of the Bomb Disposal Squad was also critically injured during the blast.

Namaz-e-Janaza of Captain Zargham was offered in Peshawar Cantt. The body of the martyred captain was dispatched to his ancestral town for burial with full military honours.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Shah Farman, provincial ministers, ISPR Director General (DG) Major General Asif Ghafoor and a number of other civil and military officials attended the funeral prayer.

PM GRIEVED: Prime Minister Imran Khan Wednesday expressed deep grief on martyrdom of Captain Zargham Fareed in Mohmand district. He prayed for the departed soul and said sacrifices of such brave soldiers would not go waste. The prime minister expressed his government’s firm resolve to rid the country of extremists and terrorists.

CAPT ZARGHAM OFFERED SUPREME SACRIFICE FOR MOTHERLAND’S DEFENCE: 

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Wednesday said Captain Zargham Fareed, who was martyred in Mohmand district, had offered supreme sacrifice for the defence of motherland and security of its people.

The minister, in a statement here, paid tribute to the martyred officer and said the brave armed forces of Pakistan were rendering great sacrifices for defending the country and they were pride of the nation.

The minister said the officers and Jawans of the valiant armed forces by laying their lives in the war against terrorism had proved how much they loved martyrdom, he added.

Fawad prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and for early recovery of the injured army soldier.
