A Pakistani national has won $1 million in the latest draw of the Dubai Duty-Free raffle on Tuesday, Khaleej Times reported.

Fehmida Tanveer, who has been living in Dubai for the last 10 years, said: “Thank God for this wonderful news! It’s our first time to win this big and this will definitely go a long way.”

She held ticket No.0373 in series 285, which she bought online along with her husband.

Dubai Duty-Free celebrated Diwali at the Dubai International Airport with a special reception held in honour of Vipul, the Indian Consul General to Dubai.

Following the lucky draw, a presentation was made for the previous winner, Sourav Dey, a 45-year-old Indian national living in Dubai, who won in series 284 with ticket No. 3070.

“I’m especially delighted to attend the presentation and to meet the Dubai Duty-Free team who made this happen along with Consul General Vipul,” Dey said.

Dubai Duty-Free organises series of special promotions as part of its promotional activity celebrating Diwali.

The two-day shopping frenzy in which discount offers of up to 20 per cent were offered from November 1 to 2 for all arriving and departing passengers travelling through Dubai International and Al Maktoum International Airport generated Dh61.3 million in sales.
