Capital gets new chief commissioner, SSP in major bureaucratic reshuffle

ISLAMABAD: In a massive shuffle in the top bureaucracy of the Capital, Establishment Division here on Tuesday transferred Islamabad Chief Commissioner Joudat Ayaz, a BS-20 Officer of Pakistan Administrative Services (PAS), and appointed Ameer Ali Ahmed, a BS-20 PAS officer as the new chief commissioner.

Amir Ali Ahmed has previously served as Capital Development Authority (CDA) member (Administration), Passports and Immigration director general, Islamabad’s deputy commissioner, Pakistan Sports Board director general and Interprovincial Coordination joint secretary.

In another transfer, Waqar-Ud-Din, a Bs-19 officer of Police Services of Pakistan (PSP) has been appointed as Islamabad senior superintendent police (SSP) Operations, replacing Amin Bukhari.

Previously, a rift appeared when State Minster Shehryar Afridi wanted to regularise SSP (Operations) Amin Bukhari while the Interior Ministry wrote to the Establishment Division to appoint Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed, a PSP Officer presently working in KP.

Since Interim government, Capital has seen Sajid Kiani, Najeeb-ur-Rehman Bhugvi and Amin Bukhari as SSP (Operations).

Earlier on November 2, amidst much hue and cry, the Establishment Division issued notification posting Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, a BPS-21 officer of PSP as Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICTP) inspector general (IG) under the Interior Division, thus effectively replacing Jan Muhammad who relinquished his charge.

Zulfiqar was posted as officer on special duty in the Establishment Division and has previously served as Motorway Police IG along with Punjab IG (Operations ), DIG (Operations), Punjab Counter-terrorism Department (CTD) DIG, Multan Regional Police Officer (RPO), Multan Chief Police Officer (CPO), Lahore Special Branch SSP, Lahore (Operations) SSP among other postings.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) government seemed to have installed its own team in the Capital as a result of these appointments and postings at these key positions.
