Pakistan whitewashed New Zealand in a three-match T20 International series on Sunday as Shadab Khan along with Babar Azam managed to secure two records under their belts.
As Babar became the fastest batsman to reach 1,000 runs in T20I, Shadab Khan became the highest T20I wicket-taker in 2018 with 28 wickets.
Shadab Khan got the record in 19 matches, while Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah had the same number of wickets in 2016 but in 21 matches.
Saeed Ajmal is another Pakistani bowler who took highest wickets in T20I. The off-spinner took 25 wickets in 2012.
Fans and cricket lovers congratulated the leg-spinner on Twitter as one wrote: “@76Shadabkhan With 28 wickets thus far, Shadab Khan is the leading wicket-taker of 2018 #PAKvNZ Congratulations.”

Sharing the list of most wicket-takers in a calendar year, cricket journalist Saj Sadiq wrote: “Most wickets in a calendar year in T20I history: Shadab Khan 28 (2018), Jasprit Bumrah 28 (2016), Dirk Nannes 27 (2010), Andrew Tye 27 (2018), Saeed Ajmal 25 (2012) #Cricket.”
