PM Khan calls for Russian investment in Pakistan

SHANGHAI: Prime Minister Imran Khan and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev on Monday agreed to further strengthen economic relations between the two countries, as the former invited Russian investment in Pakistan.

During a meeting held on the sidelines of the International Import Expo in Shanghai, Prime Minister Khan and Premier Medvedev expressed satisfaction on the upward trajectory of the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia.

Reviewing ongoing economic, trade, defence and energy cooperation, Khan underlined the importance of increasing economic cooperation with Russian Federation and welcomed Russian investment in Pakistan’s energy sector. He also welcomed Prime Minister Medvedev to visit Pakistan.

The two leaders also agreed to enhance cooperation on multilateral forums, particularly the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. They also exchanged views on regional issues, including the situation in South Asia and Afghanistan.

PM Khan is among 17 heads of state and government who are attending the Shanghai expo. More than 2,800 companies from 130 countries and regions and 160,000 buyers from over 80,000 Chinese and foreign companies are participating in the mega event.
