–Fawad Chaudhary accuses Sindh government of doing ‘negative politics’
–Saeed Ghani says info minister should know provinces are autonomous
KARACHI: Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister Murtaza Wahab and Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani lashed out at Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhary after the latter criticized the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government in Sindh of doing “politics of vengeance”.
Fawad, who is in Karachi, had called out the Sindh government over its ‘negative politics’ in meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPAs.
Touting PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said the PTI government had eliminated the negative politics from KP, which would be replicated in the rest of the country as well.
However, the PPP leadership took exception to the information minister’s comments. Fawad Chaudhry needs to concentrate on the performance of his own government, retorted Wahab as he pointed out PTI’s “inability” to run the country’s affairs.
“The federal information minister is trying to divert the attention of people from his own inability to run the affairs of the country,” he said in a statement. He said it was a reflection of a dictatorial mindset, while demanding a clarification from Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He called out Fawad for his proximity to former dictator General Pervez Musharraf and said such statement was a result of Fawad’s political grooming conducted by dictators.
‘PROVINCES ARE AUTONOMOUS’:
Saeed Ghani criticised Fawad, saying that he should know that the provinces are autonomous. “The centre was held hostage for three days, where was Fawad Chaudhry then?” he said in allusion to three-day-long Tehreek-e-Labbaik protests that had paralysed the country.
He further said that if Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader and Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar retreats [from the alliance] then the PTI government would be in trouble.
Last week, the PTI and PPP leadership locked horns in a National Assembly session over the issue of water shortage in the country, particularly in Karachi
PTI had alleged that the PPP government was patronising “tanker mafia”. Saifur Rehman, an MNA from Karachi East, had warned that there could be a “civil war” in Karachi over acute shortage of water. Making a direct attack on the PPP, he had said there was no government in Sindh, but a “mafia” was ruling the province.
In reply, a PPP lawmaker, Naveed Qamar, was of the opinion that discussing a “provincial subject” in the National Assembly was a violation of the Constitution and rules. He blamed the federal government for the water crisis in Karachi and said why Islamabad had not provided the required funds for the crucial K-IV project.
