LAHORE: A review petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday against the rejection of Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif’s bail plea.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Shehbaz Sharif and the federal government were named as respondents in the review petition filed by advocate AK Dogar.
The petition argued that the court’s decision declaring appeal against Shehbaz’s arrest as “non-maintainable” is “unlawful”.
“If an investigation is ongoing against someone, they cannot be arrested,” read the petition.
“The arrest of the suspect by NAB before the inquiry was completed and any crime was proven is against the Constitution,” the petition added.
“Thus, the court should review its decision, approve the plea and grant bail.”
Shehbaz Sharif was arrested by NAB on October 5 over the Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme scam.
