RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has given the approval to start a government housing scheme for low-income people.
As per media reports, RDA accorded a nod to start the government housing scheme in order to provide houses to the poor families, scale 1 to 16 employees and lower-middle class in the city.
This housing scheme will include facilities of water, electricity, sui gas, schools, markets, mosque and playgrounds. Plots of 3, 5 and 7 marla will be given to the citizens of Rawalpindi on installments.
The scheme will officially be announced in the upcoming 72 hours as all preparations have been completed on this count.
The scheme will be initiated with the support of private partners who own 2000 kanal of property. RDA has decided to make an online system, in order to secure the money of citizens in all the registered societies across the district. For this, separate numbers will be allotted to all the approved plots of each private housing society and they will be sold online on the website.
The message ‘No more plots’ will be mentioned on the website when all plots are sold.
RDA Chairman Arif Abbasi has said that the authority has decided to construct government housing societies under the Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan five million housing scheme.
